The Chattahoochee Boys’ Baseball team blew past close rival Johns Creek Friday night in a seven-inning game, clinching a 13-6 victory after scoring seven runs in the sixth inning to break a 6-6 tie.
Chattahoochee scored in the sixth inning on an RBI single from Colin Zweber (SR), a wild pitch, a fielder’s choice, an RBI single by Griffin Kern (JR), a walk by Kyle King (JR) and a two-run error.
Chattahoochee had scored two runs in each of the first three innings, before allowing Johns Creek to recover with three runs in the second, two runs in the fourth and one run in the fifth to tie the game heading into the sixth inning.
Michael Dibrell (SR) homered in the first inning to bring in Zweber for the two runs of the inning. Austin Wilkinson (JR) and Kern advanced the bases off multiple hits in the second inning to put Chattahoochee up 4-0 over Johns Creek. Johns Creek responded with three runs in the bottom of the second to close the gap.
A line drive double by Kern in the third brought in Brando Ernest (JR) and Jordan Einstein (JR) for two more runs. Chattahoochee blanked the next two innings as Johns Creek was able to catch up.
The Chattahoochee Boys’ Baseball team is now 12-12-1 on the season.
