How to: Reduce Stress during Finals

CarolineTomczak

As the semester is coming to an end, in the upcoming few weeks there is a lot of extra pressure added to many students. Students are overwhelmed when studying for finals and worrying about how to increase a grade by a fraction of a point in order to reach the next letter grade. The end of the semester is a very stressful time for many students; however, there are many ways to relieve this stress and keep a positive attitude about achieving your goal.

One way to relieve this stress and to have a positive attitude is to look forward to the upcoming holidays that are around the corner and the joy that comes along with the holiday season. Emily Jones (JR) gave some advice to keep a positive outlook: “I listen to Christmas music to get into the mindset of the joy that comes along with the holiday season.” With the insight of the end goal in mind, it is important to think about how proud you will feel with accomplishing your goal despite the overwhelming amount of school work and all of the all-nighters studying.

It is also very important to be well rested during the school week and to plan your time accordingly. There are many ways to plan your time, such as writing down in your agenda and making a schedule prior to important dates. To relieve your stress it is also very important to just relax and have a laugh with friends and family. Another way to reduce your stress levels is by exercising, whether you spend time playing a sport or simply going for a run.

This time in the semester may be very stressful and overwhelming but with hard work and determination it will all be worth it in the end!
